Compare the all natural soap base ingredients listed below with explanations to your current product.
Vegetable Glycerin Soap Base Ingredients: Bleached Deodorized Coconut Oil, Sodium Cocoate, Sodium Myristate or Sodium Palmitate, Sodium Laurate, Sodium Stearate, Vegetable Glycerine, Propylene Glycol, Sucrose, Triethanolamine, Titanium Dioxide, Aqua (water).
Coconut Oil: An excellent emollient naturally converted into soap through a saponification reaction with salt. Beware of products that bill themselves as "natural" and use a synthetically processed derivative, sodium lauryl sulfate, claiming it comes from coconut oil.
Sodium Cocoate: Coconut oil derivative.
Sodium Myristate: A foaming agent derived from vegetable fatty acids.
Sodium Palmitate: The sodium salt of palmitic acid, a saturated fatty acid occuring in palm oil and other fats. Used as surfactant (foaming agent) and a detergent.
Sodium Laurate: The salt of lauric acid which is a C11 fatty acid extracted from coconut oil.
Sodium Stearate: Vegetable based fatty acid.
Glycerine: Vegetable based humectant/emollient. A humectant (can be natural or synthetic, ours is natural ) used to prevent drying of the skin. Natural oils have been used longer and are far superior and safer.
Propylene Glycol: Ideally this is a vegetable glycerin mixed with grain alcohol, both of which are natural and used in Great Mother's soap base. It can be, and more often is, a synthetic petrochemical mix used as a humectant and has been known to cause allergic and toxic reactions.
Sucrose: A simple white sugar derived from cane, beet or maple sugar. It has emollient, mild emulsifying and humectant properties.
Triethanolamine: Used to adjust the pH and combined with fatty acids to convert acid to salt (stearate) which then becomes the base for a cleanser.
Titanium Dioxide: This is a white mineral pigment used to offset yellow colors from soap making oils.
These soaps are so mild, they are the only choice for everyone's delicate skin.
